Quick answer: Buy from Thai brands or from a seller that names the brands and sources them in Thailand, size by measurement because Thai sizes often run small, and plan for 7–15 business days of delivery. International orders usually ship duties unpaid, so import duties or VAT may be charged by your country on arrival.
Muay Thai comes from Thailand, and so do many of the brands fighters trust: shorts, gloves, shin guards and pads designed for gyms that train twice a day in Thai heat. Buying directly from Thailand gets you those brands – but there are a few things worth checking before you order: who makes the gear, which size you need, how long delivery takes and what your country may charge on arrival.
1. Know the Thai brands
Thailand has many fight-gear brands, from heritage names to modern labels. A few examples from our range:
| Brand | Known for |
|---|---|
| Fairtex | Muay Thai equipment made in Thailand since 1971; satin fight shorts |
| BOON Sport | Family-run Bangkok company founded in 2002; classic and retro satin shorts, SS to XXXXL |
| Raja Boxing | Bangkok fight-gear maker; a very wide range of shin guards |
| MAVINN | Bangkok brand founded in 2016; gloves, shorts and training apparel |
| Sandee | Gloves and boot shin guards, including kids' sizes |
| Kanong | Shorts sized by waist, including women's cuts |
Others include Arwut, MTM, Siamkick, Top King, Yuth and Thai Battle. For a side-by-side comparison read Fairtex vs Raja vs BOON vs MAVINN.
2. Check that the gear is genuine
Famous Thai designs are widely copied. Genuine products come with the brand's model code, material and size information, and are priced in line with the brand's own pricing. A famous design far below its normal price, a vague "Thai boxing shorts" title or generic sizing are warning signs. Our guide to authentic Thai shorts vs replicas shows what to look for. Everything we sell is genuine branded gear bought in Thailand, directly from the brands' own shops, workshops and manufacturers.
3. Size by measurement, not by label
Thai sizes often run smaller than Western clothing sizes, and brands differ from each other:
- Shorts are sized by waist – measure just above the hip bones and use our shorts size chart. Between sizes, size up.
- Gloves are sized by weight: 16 oz for sparring, 10–12 oz for bag and pads – see 12oz vs 14oz vs 16oz.
- Shin guards usually come in S to XL – see how to choose shin guards.
All of it is in one place in our sizing guide.
4. Delivery times
Gear from Thailand travels a long way, so plan ahead if you need it for a fight or a camp. We pick up your gear in Thailand, check it and pack it within 1–3 business days, then send it from Phuket with Standard International Shipping: 7–15 business days in total, with a tracking number by email once it is dispatched. Customs processing in your country can add time. Full details are on our shipping & delivery page.
5. Shipping cost and import duties
We charge one flat shipping rate per order based on the packed weight of your cart, starting at $12 for light items such as shorts or hand wraps – you see the exact amount at checkout. International orders ship DDU (delivered duty unpaid): your country may charge import duty, VAT or clearance fees on arrival, and the recipient pays them. In the United States the former $800 duty-free exemption for low-value parcels has ended, so US orders may be charged duties or carrier fees on arrival.
6. Returns from abroad
Read the refund policy before you order. Contact us first if you need to return something – do not send parcels back to the address on the shipping label. Hygiene items such as hand wraps can't be returned once opened, so check sizes before you open them.
