What is the difference between Thai pads and focus mitts?
Thai pads are long, thick pads strapped to the forearm that take kicks, knees and elbows as well as punches. Focus mitts are smaller and worn on the hand, mainly for punching combinations and speed.
Do I need a belly pad?
If you hold pads for someone else, a belly pad protects you from teeps, knees and body kicks and lets your partner train those strikes at full power.
Are curved or straight kick pads better?
Curved Thai pads wrap around the strike and are the standard in Thai gyms. Straight pads are flatter and often used for kickboxing drills.
